Mombasa  is  the  oldest  and  the  second  largest  city  in  Kenya  covering  a  total area  of  294.7  km2.  It is  a  cosmopolitan  trade, tourism and  investment hub famous for its rich history, culture and cuisine. It is the smallest county in size, with a population of around 1,208,333 people (according to the 2019 census)

Mombasa  is the  gateway  into  East  and  Central  Africa  through  its  two  ports; Mombasa Old Port on the east and Kilindini Harbor on the west. The island is connected  to  the  main  land  by  bridges  and  ferries, and  is  also  accessible through air (Moi international airport), rail (Standard Gauge Railway) and an extensive road network.

One  of Mombasa’s notable  landmarks  is Fort  Jesus.  whichwas  built  by  the Portuguese  between 1593 and 1596  as  their  military  base  to  defend  and  protect  the coveted  port.  The  fort  spans  approximately  2.36 hectares  and  in  2011 it  was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
