Description

Founded in March 2017, the Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD) was first announced in President Xi Jinping’s speech at the 2015 UN Sustainable Development Summit calling for enhanced research and communication with other countries on development theories and practices suitable to their respective national conditions. As an independent institution affiliated with the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), CIKD is mandated to pool Chinese and international resources to advance development studies, undertake research on development theories and practices, and promote research and knowledge-sharing on international development issues, including the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. CIKD is officially launched in August 2017.


Vision: 


To be a key member of the global knowledge network for development and a competent researcher and effective communicator of China’s development knowledge.


Mission:


CIKD is mandated to research and communicate Chinese development knowledge for global development. Its main functions include:



  • To pool Chinese and international research resources;

  • To undertake research on development theories and practices;

  • To organize exchange of research findings on international development issues, including the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (“2030 Agenda”).


To put it together, CIKD strives to research and communicate with other countries on development theories and practices suitable to their respective national conditions with reference to China’s development experience. It aims to make important contributions to the sharing of development wisdom, the promotion of international development cooperation and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
